"Ever experienced an unexplained excruciating pain in the joints, ankles,  or knees that lasted for some time and then subsided? Or, maybe when  you bent your fingers to hold some object, you experienced a burning  pain in your fingers so painful that you were unable to straighten them  for some time. Or, for some of us who do yoga regularly, we may have  experienced pain, burning, numbness, or tingling in the buttock, hip,  low back, knees, etc. Notice how this pain subsides when you are advised  by your physician to take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like  ibuprofen, or for some of us who have been living with this chronic  agonizing pain, relief comes from those powerful anti-inflammatory  steroid medications. All these symptoms indicate you may have  inflammation." Read the full article here!
It may seem irrelevant to some of you however recent research has revealed that from make-up, sun-creams and detergents that you use to pollution, stress and food you eat certain social, environmental and lifestyle factors can promote systemic chronic inflammation (SCI) that can, in turn, lead disability and mortality worldwide.
In addition, constant low mood, depression (even anxiety as some new research show us today), foggy brain, poor sleep, digestive problems, autoimmune conditions like fibromyalgia, obesity, severe arthritis, hormone imbalance are all linked to chronic low grade inflammation that can contribute to more serious disease such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes mellitus, chronic kidney disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and autoimmune and neurodegenerative disorders later in life as well as causing visible signs of ageing.
This all may sound scary but in fact inflammation in the body is a natural process of the immune system responding to infection, injury, stress, and more. Good news is you can protect yourself against chronic inflammation by generally caring for your body, practising yoga & mindfulness, working to reduce stress, and eating a well planned diet.
